What can I do about my business?
Recently a friend and I were chatting over lunch and he told me that his wife's company had had seven layoffs since the beginning of the year. Even in her small department, they've let a couple of people go. As you might guess, these layoffs did nothing to improve the moral of the employees.
I knew she worked for a small manufacturing company and asked what, exactly, they produced. "Spa's and Jacuzzi's(tm)" he told me. Now I understood the problem. In a booming economy, these luxury items do well. In a recession, they suffer. What, I asked, were they doing to improve business? It turns out the answer was nothing short of laying off people as their business declined.
This is the real crux of the problem. You see, this company has a wealth of expertise (some of which they are laying off) that they can exploit. They also have a vast customer list they can approach. They can expand their services to include Jacuzzi repair, cleaning and maintenance. They can approach their customers with keeping their repair and water bills down with periodic maintenance. I'm sure you can think of other avenues they might approach.
The point is that they can take advantage of what they have and what they know to succeed in this economy. What about you? Are there areas of your business that you can exploit? Are there things you can do in this economy to succeed?
If you need help with this or other areas of your busines, please join us Wednesday night March 18th for an hour and a half teleseminar entitled Growing Your Business in the Current Economy. You can register for this seminar by visiting:
