Keys to Business Success
Keys to Business Success
Your success in business is dependent on four keys. Follow these keys and your success
is virtually guaranteed, ignore them and your business is doomed to failure.
 | Have a plan |
You must have some idea as to where you are going and how you are going to get there.
A plan acts as your roadmap and defines the steps necessary to achieve your business
goals. It helps the business to stay on track and defines the important milestones
and the steps necessary to achieve them.
This must be a working plan, not one that you create then set on a shelf. Consider
your plan like a list of short and long range goals and the steps necessary to achieve
them.
|
 | Have a method of feedback |
Once you have a plan, you must have some way of knowing if you are achieving the goals
and milestones set forth in the plan. This might be your profit and loss statement, bank
balance, visitor count or any of a variety of other feedback mechanisms.
|
 | Be willing to adapt |
As you monitor your progress, you may find that what you are doing isn't working. You
must be willing to take the steps necessary to adjust your actions or even your plan to
accomplish your goals.
Often external and internal conditions change, which result in the actions you are taking
needing modification. Be willing to make those modifications as necessary. This may require
testing, tracking and follow-up.
